Respect in the Dojo

DOJO:
Bowing on arrival and on exiting the Dojo shows respect to the Sensei and the art of Karatedo.
Being mindful this is a place of learning and that karate requires your full attention.
Maintain a controlled state of mind. This means respecting the space and using it only for the practice of karate.
Respect all training equipment and use it only as instructed.
Pay all training fees on time.

SELF:
Maintain a high level of personal grooming. This includes a clean karate gi, clean hands and feet, wearing deodorant if required and having short finger and toe nails.
Bring a training attitude and make the most of your time in the Dojo. Act with grace, courtesy and dignity.
For your safety please remove all watches and jewellery.

OTHERS:
Students who arrive for a class must show respect to those on the floor training by walking around them to the seating area and waiting quietly.
Respect others training, if you are not on the floor watching quietly is learning.

Only talk/attend personal grooming during the breaks and respect others in the choice of language used or opinion expressed. SRKDNZ is a family friendly safe place of learning for karate to benefit all students. Act appropriately, the focus is karate.

SENSEI:
Be an active listener and be aware of what is required, if unsure it is your responsibility to ask.
Karate is an active contact sport and minimising risk or injury means following instruction and applying this knowledge to the best of your ability.
Only students 3rd kyu or above as indicated by Sensei are to instruct other members.
